New KIWA ATA certificate for Filcom

Filcom produces filter sand with a KIWA product certificate (BRL-K240), in which ATA (certificate on toxicological aspects) requirements are included since 2001. In the Netherlands new regulations became effective from July 2011 concerning the approval of products in contact with drinking water. After the transitional phase (July 2011 until July 2013), all products in contact with drinking water must meet these new requirements.

KIWA is appointed by the Dutch authorities to handle the applications.

These new requirements not only include an assessment of materials on toxicological aspects but also on organoleptic and microbiological aspects. In cooperation with Filcom, KWR and the Dutch drinking water companies, KIWA is in an advanced stage to incorporate the above aspects in the BRL K240 (Dutch standard when using sand for production of drinking water).

Filcom already holds an ATA certificate. Therefore Filcom is authorized by KIWA to carry the new logo, see below.
